Local Government, Non-government Organizations, Co-operators, and Family-owned Enterprises and Farmers Participate in Forum to Define Gender-responsive Policy of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Sector

The Secretariat of the National Committee on Gender Equality organized the “Goals of Gender equality policy on Food, Agriculture and Light Industry sector” workshop in Dornogobi province. 28 participants, M.Buyandelger, Head of Veterinary and Selection division of Sainshand soum, M.Otgonchimeg, Gender specialist of Dornogobi province, and other local representatives such as family-owned enterprises, farmers, co-operators and merchants attended the discussion.

The main purpose of the Forum was to conclude a proposal to define the process of formulating the sector-responsive gender policy. In particular, the Forum discussed a brief report about the detailed goals and content of policy issues pertaining to gender-responsiveness in the sector, as well as the participation-based gender assessment, conducted by the Gender Consulting Team as part of the national effort to combat gender inequality.

More than 20 comments were added to the proposal as a consequence of the forum.
