Education, Culture and Science Sector Introduces Gender Responsive Policy; Discusses Strengthening Policy Implementation

A workshop to introduce professionals in the education, culture and science sector to an industry specific gender policy was held 11 May 2018, at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Seventy delegates attended from the sub-agencies and partnering organizations.

Mr.L.Tsedevsuren, Executing State Secretary of the Ministry, T.Enkhbayar, Head of the Secretariat of National Committee on Gender Equality, B.Tsolmon, Public Development, and Gender Specialist at Asian Development Bank Mongolia Resident Mission, attended to the workshop and discussed benefits and impacts of a sector-specific gender responsive policy.

The ‘Gender Responsive Policy on Education, Culture and Science Sector’ will be implemented in 2 phases to be completed in 2024; a mid-term policy document determines the scope of the activities to set up the gender equality principles.

This workshop, and the subsequent implementation of the sector-specific gender policy, forms part of an ongoing initiative to develop gender policy within each sector of the Mongolian private and public sectors. By creating a gender policy informed by the unique challenges and opportunities of each sector, it is expected that the policy will improve the success of implementation.
